The body is made of stainless steel AISI 304. The equipment operates on the principle of water spraying: cold water is supplied to cooled forms in the form of a truncated cone from the bottom up under pressure through nozzles. The growing ice fills the volume of the cooled form, and then is doused with hot refrigerant vapor, and the finished pieces of ice fall into the storage bin.
